The story of From War to Peace is a story of transformation:

We recycle copper from disarmed nuclear missile systems to create Peace Bronze, the most precious metal in our world. We use it to make glorious art and jewelry for those who share our commitment to a world without war.

From War to Peace is a green company. We recycle everything, making the old newly useful. Our silver- and gold-plated pieces are created entirely from recycled metals. Our printed paper is all recycled. All plastics we use are biodegradable. Our Peace Bronze itself is recycled from missile system cabling. Even the server hosting our website uses solar technology to power its computers.

From War to Peace is a uniquely American company. The copper we use was originally mined in Montana, then used in the Midwest as wiring in nuclear missile systems before being disarmed. After recovering the copper, the Peace Bronze is made for us at a California foundry. We use casting foundries in New Mexico & CA for our casting. Local artisans turn it into jewelry and art objects here in the U.S.A.

From War to Peace is a giving company. We donate 20 percent of all FWTP profit to deserving peace and social justice organizations in the U.S.A. and around the world.

The Story of Peace Bronze™

From the late 1940’s into the early 1980’s, immense quantities of copper were mined in Montana, copper that ended up as a key element in the most ferocious weapons system ever created. Throughout the upper Midwest, thousands of missiles with nuclear warheads were built, inserted into silos, and aimed at our presumed enemies around the world. Thousands of miles of cable connected these missiles to U.S. military command, ready 24/7 to press a button and send us to nuclear Armageddon.

Remember MinuteManMissileWEBthe ubiquitous suitcase carried by a Military Aide wherever the President of the U.S. happens to be? They call it “the nuclear football.” The suitcase contains the button the President would push if he determined that the Russians, the Chinese, the Cubans, or the Martians were about to attack. That button is the signal to shoot our nuclear arsenal into the skies - to kill our presumed enemies before they can kill us. That suitcase still travels with President Obama wherever he goes.

Since the late 1980s, the U.S. has entered into a number of nuclear disarmament treaties, first with the Soviet Union, then with its successor, Russia. President Obama has been quite active on the disarmament issue, even being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his effort. The U.S. and Russia have indeed disarmed thousands of nuclear weapons in the last 30 years, but we still have a long way to go to reach a nuclear weapon-free world.

Why? Because the U.S. still maintains a nuclear arsenal of 2,468 active warheads, with a further 7,000 “inactive” but in reserve. Russia has even more warheads poised to shatter the world with unimaginable violence. In addition, China, Great Britain, France, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea each have nuclear arsenals. South Africa remains unique among nations; it developed nuclear weapons but has since disassembled its arsenal.

The cabling connecting the disarmed nuclear missile silos was left in the soil of the American Midwest.  This cabling, up to 3.5 inches in diameter and made of plastic, copper, and steel, was buried deep underground to keep it impervious to ncopperchop_highresWEBuclear assault. The cabling is not radioactive and never has been. It’s as safe to handle as the coins in your pocket or purse.

Our company, From War to Peace, has patiently dug much of this missile cabling out of the soil, recycled the metals into their pure forms, and used the copper to create a wonderful alloy we call Peace Bronze©. Our creation is made from 95% copper, 4% silicon, and about 1% manganese---all of it recycled materials. Peace Bronze© is an entirely American-made product.

From War to Peace uses Peace Bronze™ to create glorious art and jewelry for those who share our commitment to a world without war.
